Lunch plus refreshment breaks will be offered during each session. This will consist of sandwiches, light snacks, tea, coffee and soft drinks.
What is it about?
The production of short factual and documentary style video is becoming an increasing important tool for creatives, both in self-promotion and as a rounding-out to the services you can offer your clients.
The focus of this intensive training will be on the process of producing a short factual insert, from script to screen, with particular focus on the importance of planning and pre-production, interview technique, and shooting relevant cutaway material.
This training covers:
- Understanding the stages involved in professional video production
- Acquiring pre production and production management skills
- Camera, scripting and editing skills

At the end of the training participants will:
- Be comfortable with applying creative ideas to translate a project brief into a completed production.
- Understand the stages of production used in professional practice

- Know and apply the appropriate skills for script to screen production of a short factual project
Tutors
Karen Stowe started her career as a camera operator at the BBC, before moving on to direct documentary and award-winning drama. Her credits include Holby City, Eastenders and Girls in Love. She is currently Tutor for Film & TV at the Oxford School Of Drama.
Tim May is a screenwriter working with Wellington Films, and Executive Producer at World Television, a leading UK corporate production company. He spent nearly ten years at the BBC making documentaries for the flagship Arts strand ARENA.
How to get a Free place
- A minimum of 19 years old
- Living or working in Gloucestershire
- Be either employed by a small business (between 1-249 employees)
- Or running your own business (this can include freelancers if you have a business bank account or are self-employed for tax purposes)
- Be working in the creative/media industry
